Asymptotic sign-solvability, multiple objective linear programming, and the nonsubstitution theorem

In this paper we investigate the asymptotic stability of dynamic, multipleobjective linear programs. In particular, we show that a generalization of the optimal partition stabilizes for a large class of data functions. This result is based on a new theorem about asymptotic sign-solvable systems. The stability properties of the generalized optimal partition are used to extend a dynamic version o...

Control and Cybernetics a Remark on Sensitivity in Linear Programming and Gale-samuelson Nonsubstitution Theorem

The main purpose of this paper is to show that David Gale’s result (1960, Lemma 9.3 on sensitivity in linear programming) is not generally valid. In this lemma, additional assumptions, that are instead required, are not made. We give some correct versions of the above mentioned lemma, and with these an elementary proof of the Gale-Samuelson nonsubstitution theorem.

On the Asymptotic Average Number of Efficient Vertices in Multiple Objective Linear Programming

Let a1 , ..., am , c1 , ..., ck be independent random points in R that are identically distributed spherically symmetrical in R and let X :=[x # R|ai x 1, i=1, ..., m] be the associated random polyhedron for m n 2. We consider multiple objective linear programming problems maxx # X c1 x, maxx # X c T 2 x, ..., maxx # X c T k x with 1 k n. For distributions with algebraically decreasing tail in ...

Geometric Duality in Multiple Objective Linear Programming

We develop in this article a geometric approach to duality in Multiple Objective Linear Programming. This approach is based on a very old idea, the duality of polytopes, which can be traced back to the old Greeks. We show that there is an inclusion reversing one-to-one map between the minimal faces of the image of the primal objective and the maximal faces of the image of the dual objective map.

Forecasting Using Fuzzy Multiple Objective Linear Programming

The application of fuzzy approach models to forecast has been drawing a lot of attention. This study proposes a fuzzy approach to forecasting using a financial data set. The methodology used is multiple objective linear programming (MOLP). Selecting an individual forecast based upon a single objective may not make the best use of available information for a variety of reasons. Combined forecast...
